In my absence the theme page I’ve been using for years has seemingly been rearranged 0r redesigned. I can’t unstick my sandwich.

I am so happy to have this little bit of extra energy. Chemo treatment id a beast but it’s making a difference.

No matter if I’m up or down I’m feeling the helping hands, and I’m so grateful for each little bit of magic in every day.

It’s there if we only see it and believe.

These were Steve Jobs’ last words.

It has to be my favorite quote of the decade. Can you imagine what he was seeing?

My husband, Frank, brought me that news knowing how much I would like it. I have been collecting scraps of ”evidence” about the passage between worlds most of my life. It’s very much like my very own giant ball of twine composed of every loose string I ever encountered. It is the treasure of my heart/mind.

Bitchy Giggles

Egad! It seems that a childhood illness I once suffered may have made a late-life return. The doctors agree that it looks like tuberculosis. That is the good news, assuming that we can agree, TB is preferable to the big C.

This is the point in my once workaholic creative life where I am trying to convince myself that slowing down is not so very awful.

So I’m fiercely independent. So I can’t sit still. I’m a doer. I do have a list of tasks that constantly self-generates.

I’m wracked with maker-guilt at the measly amount of blog posts I’ve managed this month but my body demands that I take a frickin’ break.

I spent the summer arguing with myself about when I was going to chill. I planned long hours of peaceful reflection, film viewing, hours of devouring all the unread books I’ve got stashed but his leopard is finding it nearly impossible to change it’s spots.

I am impatient with myself. Work and care taking happen a little bit at a time and that will have to be okay. I will get better at knowing my limits.

I am enjoying this weather so much. Cool, rainy, then warmer and sunny. We are in the mild zone, now, that it is October. It could be hot at this time of year but it is not.

Thanks, weather.

The green things are still growing. They might be a little ragged at the edges but still beautiful.

Temperatures, this week will be in the mid 80s. Sweet.

It is time to enjoy the transformation of warm into chill and enjoy a slow few weeks before the acceleration of the coming holidays.

Absorb

I wish there was a quicker way for humans to absorb knowledge. Something like plugging in your brain into a main source and choosing material to add to your lineup of knowledge, like adding songs on your iPod.

I want to know everything about mushrooms.

I tuned into a radio show last week and heard the most interesting things about mycelium. I believe one of the people I heard was Paul Stamets. I have just ordered his book Mycelium Running.

Did you know that mushrooms/mycelium were the first plant on the planet earth, that they came from star material? I guess we are all star material, really.

I cant wait to read this book.

I have been somewhat obsessed by mushrooms and have created some fantasy versions in cloth.

Tremendously fun to blend the textures and colors.

Learning everything about this early visitor would be so cool.

The Mayans were into mushrooms. Terence McKenna, too. Aldous Huxley, etc.

Light, Love, Kind

Pretty lights, baby. In the mornings, especially in the cool months, I like to light the candles in my fireplace. I think of myself being

“A spark from the one divine fire”

I think of all those I know as being a spark here in this world.

Lighting the candles is all about gratitude and faith that we can all know our best selves, do good work and feel love.

Junk

Chores this morning included cutting the top section of an old couch into what I hope are acceptable pieces to be collected by the waste management service. I think it will go. Cross your fingers and I’ll cross mine.

This is a bit of putting off the inevitable. Someday soon I will have to call a junk man, a guy with some muscle and a truck, not too expensive, to haul away our collection of outdated electronic machines.

TVs used to be so big and heavy. Computer parts, too.

Dorm refrigerators will die if you stab their cooling line accidentally while in a cleaning frenzy. It’s bad.

I would love to clear it all out and I will eventually . . . soon.

Just Before Sunrise

Low light picture experiment with my $2 thrift store Canon Powershot A520:

I was trying to take it easy after my four or five-day return to evil caffeine. Man, it had been so long since I had the java juice it moved through my system like meth.

Let’s just say I over did it. You’ve seen that I’ve rearranged my living room and adjacent work space. I also sawed an old cheap couch in half. I thought I’d cut it onto small enough pieces to fit, bit by bit into our garbage containers. Crazy? Maybe. I still have some sawing to do.

Caffeine had allowed me to accomplish many things this last week.

I made a new mushroom.

I think the ruffle is a little stiff and a little too large but I love the colors.
